No. You will lose the ability to make changes to your app after the first year, but if someone has the app on their device or downloads a copy from the AppStore it will continue to operate. If at some point Apple releases a new Operating System, the app *may* stop functioning.

The maintenance fee will keep your app up-to-date, and will allow you to continue to make changes.
